RB Leipzig will have to sell several big name players if miss out on Champions League football

Sport Bild reports that RB Leipzig could face serious changes this summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League as the club sank to sixth at the weekend.

Regular Champions League football has been one of the points which has allowed Leipzig to attract the likes of Xavi Simons and Loïs Openda to the club, but if that is no longer an option, players will likely be sold.

Castello Lukeba, Benjamin Seško and new permanent signing Xavi Simons would all be sold in the summer if they do not finish in the top four. Seško has attracted interest from Arsenal, while Xavi has also been linked to Liverpool. Sport Bild reports that Lukeba will look to leave the club in the summer no matter what and is planning to make use of his €90m release clause, with Real Madrid interested.

Openda and David Raum will also look to make moves if they fail to qualify for the Champions League come May.

The positive for Leipzig is that away from Lukeba, none of these players have release clauses, meaning they can maximise the profit of the players they would sell.

The players are not the only ones who could leave. Head coach Marco Rose could be fired with Sebastian Hoeneß hotly linked to the club.
