RB Leipzig are set to complete the signing of Caen attacker Tidiam Gomis (18).
According to Philipp Hinze, the Bundesliga side have fought off competition from Aston Villa and Milan to sign the French youth international, whose contract at the Ligue 2 side expires in the summer.
Gomis has played 21 games across all competitions for Caen this season, registering four goal contributions (two goals and two assists), and will sign a long-term deal at the Saxony club.
It’s been a busy week at Leipzig following the appointment of Sebastian Schuppan as sporting director, signing Arthur Vermeeren on a permanent basis, as well as securing the transfer of Wolfsburg’s Ridle Baku. All while Leipzig’s new recruitment team continue to work on summer signings.
Leipzig’s long history of the French market
RB Leipzig have a history of recruiting from France with the signings of Loïs Openda (Lens), Castello Lukeba (Lyon), El Chadaille Bitshiabu and Xavi Simons (PSG) in the 2023/24 season and before that, Abdou Diallo (PSG, 2022/23) and Mohamed Simakan (Strasbourg, 2021/22). Further noticeable names include Ibrahima Konaté and Christopher Nkunku, who now play for Liverpool and Chelsea.
