According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich are considering the option of extending Thomas Müller’s contract at the club.
The 35-year-old’s deal at the Allianz Arena is set to expire in the summer, and despite initial suggestions that Der Rekordmeister would allow Müller’s contract to run down, it is now understood that they could have a change of heart.
As stated in the report, a deal until 2026 could be offered to Müller, but Bayern would want certain conditions to be met.
The record champions would demand that the 35-year-old take a salary reduction, but as of yet, Bayern are still not aware of whether the 35-year-old is wanting to continue his playing career.
While Müller has appeared on 22 occasions for Der Rekordmeister this season, scoring four goals and collecting three assists in the process, his total game time only equates to 39 minutes per game on average.
With this being a twelve-minute decrease to Müller’s average last season, it is clear to see that he is being ushered out the side.
Therefore, the necessity in extending his playing contract at the Allianz Arena could certainly be debatable.
