According to Bild, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.
It had previously been reported that Der Rekordmeister were targeting Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku, having already agreed on personal terms with the former RB Leipzig forward.
However, with Bayern reluctant to let go of Mathy Tel as part of the deal, the Premier League outfit’s demand of €70 million may force Vincent Kompany’s side to look elsewhere.
This has, therefore, seen Bayern make contact with Gittens’ representatives, with initial discussions having taken place.
Nevertheless, the record champions would face competition from a number of Premier League sides, as Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham maintain their interest in the Englishman.
Despite previously displaying positive performances in a Dortmund shirt, this has undeniably been Gittens’ breakout season for BvB, registering eleven goals and three assists in all competitions this season, often prevailing as the shining light in a rather bleak campaign.
Therefore, the 20-year-old could become the long-term replacement for Leroy Sané, whose future is still up in the air, with his contract set to expire this summer.
Regardless, Bayern would be banking on BvB not qualifying for the Champions League, as the fee they would have to pay for Gittens would rise drastically should Die Schwarzgelben turn their season around and qualify for Europe’s top competition.
