Alphonso Davies to miss the rest of the season and Dayot Upamecano out for the next six weeks as key injuries hit Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have announced that both Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano will face spells on the sidelines, having picked up injuries during the international break.

Davies has torn his cruciate ligament and will miss the next six months. The injury occurred in a rather meaningless third-place play-off in the CONCACAF Nations League against the USA at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday. Davies only played 12 minutes before being subbed off.

Raphaël Guerreiro, but more likely Hiroki Ito, will have to step in for the Canadian, who will not only miss the rest of the season but the Club World Cup in the summer.

Upamecano will also be on the sidelines for the next six weeks. The Frenchman is suffering from loose joints in his knee. The 26-year-old played the entirety of France’s Nations League quarter-finals second leg against Croatia on Sunday, even scoring in the shootout. Eric Dier, Josip Stanisic and Ito will all be able to fill in for Upamecano.

Bayern currently hold a six-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga table and is also in the Champions League quarter-finals against Inter Milan.
