Julian Nagelsmann demands consistency from Leroy Sané

Leroy Sané wasn’t nominated for Julian Nagelsmann’s latest Germany squad, but the Bayern Munich star was called-up to replace Stuttgart’s Deniz Undav, and after scoring against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the 28-year-old has worked him back into contention.

Nagelsmann confirmed that changes will be made for Germany’s game against Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday night, and Sané could be one of those.

Speaking in Monday’s press conference, Nagelsmann was asked about Sané.

“He has recently brought a breath of fresh air to us and to Bayern,” said Nagelsmann. “It has been known for years that he can do everything and has everything. It’s now about bringing that onto the pitch. I assume that he will use the longer playing time tomorrow in the same way that he used the short one against Bosnia.”

Sané has rightfully had his critics this season. Struggling to break into the Bayern Munich team under Vincent Kompany, the wide-player has played just 386 minutes across 11 games in all competitions for the Rekordmeister, scoring three goals.

Perform well against Hungary, Sané may just find himself back in Kompany’s plans while remaining in Nagelsmann’s plans and future squad announcements.
