Bayer Leverkusen in talks to extended Victor Boniface’s contract

Sky Germany reports that Bayer Leverkusen are in advanced talks with Victor Boniface to extend his contract by a year until 2029.

Boniface’s current deal expires in 2028 but Leverkusen want to avoid losing the striker amid interest from abroad. The positive for Leverkusen is that Boniface feels happy at the BayArena.

With the one-year extension, Boniface is set to become one of the top earners at the club. His current deal sees him earn around €3m.

Since joining from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023, Boniface has been a revelation for Leverkusen scoring 29 and assisting 10 in 49 appearances for the club. However, he has had two major injuries which have kept him out for long periods. Last season he suffered an abductor injury which he struggled to shake off after returning, while he is currently out with a thigh injury suffered on international duty with Nigeria.

The most important thing for Boniface will be returning to the high level he set at the start of the season, once he returns from his thigh injury.
